Bengaluru: Halasuru police are investigating a curious case lodged by SBI Cards and Services Private Limited over the hacking of server and cheating the bank to the tune of Rs. 38.83 crores. If this complaint is true, it might pose threat to the data shared by thousands of customers with the company.
In his complaint to the police, Vinod Kumar, manager of the company has alleged that few miscreants have hacked the bank data and cheated the bank by misusing the Know Your Customer (KYC) and Credit Card data of customers. “This has resulted in the loss of Rs. 38.83 crores to the bank and customers,” he informed in the complaint.
But police who are investigating the case feel that few miscreants have received cards by providing false documents and made purchases/ payments over and above the prescribed limit. “We are investigating this case from all angles,” said an officer.
Meanwhile, customers are shocked over the incident. They feel that this case should be investigated thoroughly as it involves hacking.
“Hacking bank data is a dangerous news. We want the bank to issue clarification in this regard soon. If it is the case of hacking it may involve data of all the customers too,” says Mr. Jayant Yadav, a SBI card holder.
