Bengaluru: JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy has kicked up a row by stating that former minister and mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy was given a clean chit by the enforcement agencies in the illegal mining-related cases on the condition that he will fund Rs 500 crore to the BJP for the upcoming Assembly elections.Addressing the gathering at the JD(S) convention at Palace Grounds here on Thursday, Kumaraswamy said that the state government, on the other hand, had failed to take the former Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde’s report on illegal mining to a logical end.

Further he alleged that Reddy’s assets worth crores that had been seized were being returned to him quietly since he had agreed to fund the BJP for the assembly elections.

Taking a jibe at the BJP and Congress, Kumaraswamy said that both the parties had nothing to do and thus while one party was releasing a diary, the other party was releasing a CD.

Rubbishing rumors that his party had tied up with Congress and hence not fielded candidates in Nanjangud and Gundlupet, he said that the decision was arrived at after consulting party workers who opined that both the parties were spending heavily in these two constituencies from the money they have looted from people.
