Bengaluru: “I have not called anyone as Congress agent,” clarified former CM H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday in Bengaluru. Earlier media reports claimed that H D Kumaraswamy had described few of his party leaders as Congress agents.
Speaking after the legislative meeting of the party, HDK said, “I have not called Cheluvarayaswamy and H C Balakrishna as the Congress agents.” He lashed out at the media for depicting differences within the party and said, “Mysuru media persons have misquoted my statement. Do not indulge in blowing minor differences out of proportion.
“Initially, yes we did discuss about alliance with Congress in the council elections. There is no confusion within the JD(S). We only focus on winning as many as seats in the elections possible,” he added.
Even former prime minister H D Devegowda pointed out that they had held talks to have an alliance with the other parties. “What HD Kumarswamy and Zameer Ahamed spoke is true. Zameer Ahamed and Cheluvarayaswamy had discussed about the alliance,” he said.
“It is wrong to say that there is no internal democracy within the party. Today, every member of the party has spoken out their mind in the meeting, so all differences have been sorted out, he added.
Earlier, N Cheluvarayaswamy, another former minister, Zameer Ahamed and Balakrishna, had tried to negotiate for an alliance with Congress for polls scheduled on December 27. However, JD(S) decided to go solo without any alliance.
