Bengaluru: Community stores are a very common phenomena in the developed countries, but in India this concept is still in its embryonic stage.

However, in a first step towards making these community stores popular in Bengaluru city, the members of Whitefield Rising, a community led by Uma Narayanan, Devyani Trivedi and other volunteers have started the first community store of the city.

This community store located at Vijayanagar of Whitefield has been named as ‘Re-Store’. What makes this store unique when compared to other commercial centers in the city is that one can only find used items which are in good condition and have good value.

Presently this community store is offering all household items ranging from clothes, books, decors, shoes, toys, games, jewelry, stationery, bags and utensils.

The store is fast becoming a hotspot because the customers say that it is easy on pocket to pick these items.

The theme of the store is reduce, reuse, recycle and up-cycle of products and it is truly living by it.
