Protesting students post sanitary napkins to PMO, demand rollback of GST

Bengaluru: The National Students Union of India (NSUI) student wing of All India Congress Committee (AICC) has intensified its struggle against 12% GST on sanitary napkins. On Thursday it held a protest march in the city where hundreds of napkins were sent to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) via Indian post.

Agitators also sent napkins to union ministers Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, BJP state spokesperson Malavika Avinash who was recently in news for supporting the higher GST on the napkins.

The protest started at BMC college, Basavanagudi and concluded at Basavanagudi post office. Students urged the Prime Minister to intervene immediately and exempt sanitary pads from GST.
