Bengaluru: The RMC Yard police have nabbed two people and seized demonetized currency notes of the face value of Rs 80 lakh.
“Based on tip-off, the police have nabbed two people and seized the bag containing with banned Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes of face value Rs 80 lakh,’’ said RMC Yard police inspector Mohammed Mukharam on Tuesday.
The police have identified the arrested persons as Shameel Ahmed, 39, from Rajendra Nagar of Mysuru and Nanjunda, 47, from Gowdanapalya in Bengaluru. “One more accused is absconding. We have launched a manhunt to nab him,’’ the police inspector said.
A case has been registered against the accused at RMC Yard police station under the Sections of 102 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Three held for selling drugs
The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested three foreign nationals for selling drugs.
“Based on a tip-off, the CCB police have taken three people into custody for selling cocaine from them on Monday at 1st Main Road of Sadanandanagar Layout in Byappanahalli police limits,’’ a police officer said.
The police have identified the arrested persons as Anthony Egwoba alias Hillary Ejimofor Chinemeze alias Prince Nwaiyene, 24, from Nigeria, Owen Penhaligan, 37, from England and Israel Manuel, 28, from Mozambique.
Anthony Egwoba is residing at Naganahalli near Kotanuru, while Owen Penhaligan is residing at Windmills of Your Mind, Epip Zone, near Whitefield and Israel Manual is residing at Seegehalli near KR Puram in Bengaluru. The police have seized around 6 gms of cocaine, seven mobile phones, one iphone ipad, two passports, one Suzuki Swift car, one Honda Activa two-wheeler and cash. “All are valued at Rs 7,50,000,” the police said.
A case has been registered against the accused at Byappanahalli Police Station.
