Bengaluru: State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa, who got some relief from the High Court by availing a stay on the first information reports (FIRs) filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) against him, has received summons from police to appear before them on September 28 for questioning.

The summons is in connection with an attempt-to-kidnap and assault case involving Vinay, personal assistant to K.S. Eshwarappa, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council. The police have arrested eight persons so far and had even summoned Yeddyurappa’s personal assistant, Santosh, for questioning.

After evading the police for a while, Santosh obtained anticipatory bail and appeared before the police. But he reportedly did not cooperate with the line of questioning. The police approached the courts seeking cancellation of his bail as he had not adhered to the bail conditions. The case is pending in court.

On Friday, Assistant Commissioner of Police A.R. Badiger, the investigating officer, served notice at Yeddyurappa’s house in Dollars Colony. There are some questions that need to be clarified, a senior police officer said.

A few months ago, the former Chief Minister had written to the then Police Commissioner Praveen Sood seeking a fair probe into the case. In that letter, he had batted for Santosh and alleged that he was being framed. The police probe later pointed to the conspiracy to attack Vinay allegedly being hatched at the house of Yeddyurappa, where Santosh was staying.
