Bengaluru: A 30-year-old police constable was beaten up by three men in Banasawadi in early hours of Monday.

Constable Basavaraju Ipparagi, a driver of a Hoysala patrol vehicle ( 45) attached to Pulakeshinagar police, was returning home on his motorcycle after finishing his night shift around 4.30 a.m.

Basavaraju, who was in plain clothes, was on Tank Bund Road near Don Bosco Church in Lingarajapuram, when a few commuters allegedly did not give him enough space to pass. This led to a heated argument and the incident took an ugly turn when three people allegedly assaulted the constable.

The constable later filed a complaint with the jurisdictional Banasawadi police. He also alleged that he lost his mobile phone and his gold chain during the brawl.
