Bengaluru: Nileena Atholi, an Alumni of Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru and the current Sub- editor of Mathrubhumi has bagged Ramnath Goenka award 2015 for Journalistic excellence.
She achieved this feat for best reporting in regional languages other than Hindi category. Ramnath Goenka is the founder of Indian Express and the award in his name aims to celebrate excellence in journalism, recognize courage, commitment and showcase outstanding contributions of individuals every year.
The Award comprises of Rupees One Lakh and a Citation, which will be presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a function in New Delhi on November 2. Award is for her article series titled ‘Artha jeevithangalude arakshithavasthakal’ published in Mathrubhumi. She also bagged SBT Literary Media Awards in 2016 for the same article series.
