Bengaluru: Minister for Bengaluru Development and Town Planning K J George on Thursday directed the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) engineers to complete the laying of water supply pipes on the Main Road of Muneshwara ward within 15 days.

Annoyed over the delay in laying the water supply pipes, Minister George wondered how much time the BWSSB engineers would need to lay water supply pipes on the cross roads in the area if they take so much time to complete the work on the main road. Minister George was inspecting the progress of the developmental works taken up by the BWSSB and the BBMP at Muneshwara ward and other areas at an estimated cost of Rs 1.50 crore. “I am not happy with the progress of these developmental works. The more delay in completing the works will cause more inconvenience to the residents. I want the authorities concerned to take measures for completing all the developmental works within 15 days,’’ the minister said.

The minister lost his cool when some residents complained against dumping of garbage on a vacant place in the area. The residents complained to the minister about the negligence of BBMP authorities in removing garbage from the spot. The minister directed the BBMP engineers to take suitable measures to prevent dumping of garbage on the vacant place. He also directed the BBMP engineers to remove heaps of garbage and keep the place clean.

The minister has also inspected developmental works at Sagayapura ward. The residents complained to the minister against the irregular water supply. They told the minister that BWSSB authorities supply drinking water once in a week. The minister directed the BWSSB engineers to supply sufficient quantity of drinking water to the residents.

Later, the minister participated in a pooja ceremony to lay new water pipes to supply Cauvery water under Amrutha schame on Hennur Main Road. He also distributed old age pension certificates sanctioned by the revenue department to deserving people at a function held at Parijatha School, KG Halli.
