Minister George launches ‘Jana Mana’ in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Minister for Bangalore Development K J George on Friday launched ‘Jana Mana” programme jointly organised by the Bangalore City Urban District administration, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and Information and Public Relations Department. 

The Minister, who is also in charge of Bangalore Urban District, explained various schemes taken up by the administration as announced in the Budget by the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Participants at the meeting, mostly farmers and students, expressed satisfaction with regard to implementation of various schemes implemented towards welfare of the society.

Several farmers who spoke on Annabhagya scheme urged the government increase the quantity of rice, wheat, ragi and edible oil to the beneficiaries. Some women representatives suggested to the government to include millets too under the scheme.

Some farmers felt ‘Krishihonda’ has come as a boon to farmers in some places of the state. They even recalled the dark days of farmers in Anekal and said with the introduction of Krishihonda scheme, the farmers, with the help and guidance of officials, were able to grow different crops and led a peaceful life. Some of them suggested to fence Krishihonda and protect it in the interests of farming community.

Participants urged the government to include fruits and eggs to be distributed along with milk for three days a week under ‘Ksheerabhagya’ scheme. The minister said he would convey their feelings to the Chief Minister. Under ‘Ksheeradharae’ scheme, the farmers were happy that they were getting Rs five subsidy. This would ensure number one position to Karnataka with regard to milk production in the country soon, they hoped adding that the state produced 75 lakh litres of milk every day.

Student participants were happy that abundant facilities were available for them to pursue their studies under ‘Vidyasiri’ scheme. They also cited an example of progress made by a student from Koppal belonging to poor section, who strove to get a job in a private IT company through hard work. A PhD. student, a beneficiary under the scheme, urged the government to increase the payment from Rs 5000 to Rs 8000 and distribute laptop for which the minister said he would discuss with the concerned minister.
