Bengaluru: Mayor Padmavati on Wednesday directed the contractor and authorities concerned to complete developmental work on Modi Road under Tender SURE (specification for urban road extension) at an estimated cost of Rs 10.50 crore by end of February.
Inspecting the progress of the developmental work on Modi Road, the Mayor had expressed displeasure over the delay in completing the work. She directed the contractor and the engineers to keep electric cables under the footpath. Meanwhile, some of the residents complain to the Mayor against the slow progress of the road work. They have also demanded the Mayor to direct the authorities concerned to facilitate a footpath and parking facility.
Later speaking to media persons, the Mayor said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was very keen in completing the developmental works taken up under Tender SURE project. “The progress of the work is expected to gain momentum only after completing the laying of water pipes and optical fiber cables,’’ the Mayor said.
Meanwhile, B Bhadre Gowda, chairperson, standing committee on ward-level works, has demanded the Mayor to cancel the high-power committee. Gowda also expressed his displeasure over the helplessness of the Mayor.
Later, the Mayor inspected the developmental works near KHB Colony. She took the BBMP engineers to the task for the delay in completing the construction of an underpass. “The construction of the underpass has already been delayed. I want the work to be completed without any delay. I want the underpass to be open for public by March,’’ she said.
