Bengaluru: Mayor G. Padmavathi on Tuesday directed the officials of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to take measures for the maintenance of more than 100 vehicles parked near Mysugar complex.
The mayor, after inspecting the vehicles, has expressed concern over the poor maintenance of BBMP vehicles. “There are complaints against the shortage of vehicles in the BBMP. It is shocking to see these trucks, some of them in good condition, parked here without using for garbage collection,’’ the mayor said.
There are 127 vehicles at the parking lot. Among them, seven are hearse vans. “I want the BBMP authorities to use this space for better purpose after removing these vehicles from here,’’ she said.
Meanwhile, some of the BBMP drivers have complained to the Mayor against the BBMP officials for giving BBMP vehicles to private contractors on lease basis. “The BBMP officials have fixed the amount on a monthly basis,’’ said Maregowda, one of the drivers.
