Bengaluru: The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) officials summoned former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to appear before the investigating officer on Saturday. Summons has also been issued to the former Additional Chief Secretary Subir Hari Singh.
The ACB registered two cases against Yeddyurappa and others on August 17.
Yeddyurappa has been asked to appear for questioning in connection with denotifying 257 acres and 20.5 guntas land in Dr. K. Shivaram Karanth Layout in north Bengaluru. The cases were registered following a complaint filed by a member of the Jana Samanya Vedike, a city-based social organisation.
Yeddyurappa has been accused of dropping 257 acres from the preliminary notification of the layout bypassing the denotified committee approval, allegedly misusing his official position. The Bangalore Development Authority had submitted adverse reports in response to applications filed seeking denotification, but the then Chief Minister Yeddyurappa ignored adverse reports and directed the officials to drop these lands from preliminary notification.
Apart from Yeddyurappa and Singh, the ACB has also named Urban Development Department Deputy Secretary Basavaraju and Under-Secretary Premachandra, besides two BDA officials, Special Land Acquisition Officer H. Basavarajendra and Deputy Commissioner Land Acquisition Gaurishankar.
