Bengaluru: The KSRTC incurred loss to the tune of Rs 21 crores in a single day due to infinite strike called by employees of state transport department.
A press release from the KSRTC states that it incurred Rs 21 crores from four divisions under its belt including BMTC.
Detailing the breakup, almost 29 lakh passengers commute in KSRTC everyday and the average revenue was about Rs. 8.5 crores. NWRTC’s revenue was about Rs 5 crores with 22 lac commuters everyday and NERTC’s average revenue was about Rs 3 crores with 12 lac commuters everyday, statement said.
The flagship service of the KSRTC, the BMTC incurred Rs 4.5 crore on Monday till afternoon as nearly half of Bangaloreans are dependent on it. On an average 51 lac passenger travel in BMTC buses everyday in the garden city. Adding further, in total 92 KSRTC and 4 BMTC buses were damaged so far adding another Rs 8.9 lac to the total loss, statement said.
Meanwhile, some of the agitating employees have returned to duty and reported to their high ends fearing enforcement of ESMA, sources said. KSRTC employees have started an indefinite stir from Sunday morning demanding 35 per cent hike in salary.
