Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on Wednesday issued closure order for six industries around Bellandur Lake and 24 industries in Bellandur catchment area.
“The six industries are water-based ones. The 24 industries are found operating without valid permission,’’ Lakshman, Chairman, KSPCB, said. The industries are engaged in printing, dying, car care. “We have issued closure notices to these industries today. It may take one or two days for them to receive the closure notices,’’ Lakshman said.
The KSPCB, as per the order of National Green Tribunal, Chennai, has issued orders for the closure 21 slaughter houses situated in Belgaum district in north Karnataka region. The Board has issued closure directions to 35 Jeans washing industries situated in Bellary and 16 industries situated in other than Bellandur Lake catchment area. “We have issued the closure orders under Section 33(A) of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1974,’’ Lakshman said.
