Bengaluru: The main accused and alleged kingpin in the second PU question paper leak case, Shivakumaraiah, who was nabbed two days ago, maintained during questioning that he had no role in this year’s question paper leak.
Shivakumaraiah on the second day of questioning told investigating officers that his nephew Kiran, who is yet to be traced, and his friend Manjunath, a PT teacher, might have sold the leaked question papers to Obalaraj, who is already behind bars and his relative Rudrappa.
Shivakumaraiah however confessed to have involved in paper leaks prior to 2014. He and his son Dinesh were arrested by the CCB police in 2014 in connection with the CET question paper leak. He said that thereafter he and his son Dinesh did not involve in such crimes.
“He would usually get the question papers leaked and later get it photo-copied at his residence, to sell it among students. He has even revealed that at times, he has got teachers to write examinations for which the parents of the wards paid him good money. However, he claims that he is no longer in this business,” a source added.
A sources from the CID said that the accused when questioned about transactions made from his account for the last few years, which amounts to Rs 30 lakh, the kingpin reportedly told the police that his late father, who was a real estate agent, had parked money in his account.
The police are confronting him with evidences, considering his poor health but the accused is giving evasive replies, said a CID source.
However, the probing team has rubbished his claims and various teams are on the lookout for Kiran, the nephew of the kingpin.
