Bengaluru: The police team investigating the alleged assault and attempt to kidnap on Vinay Bidre, personal assistant of BJP leader K.S. Eshwarappa, has named N.R. Santosh, an aide of former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, as the prime accused in the case registered at the Mahalakshmi Layout police station in May this year.

Santosh’s anticipatory bail plea was heard in a Sessions Court on Monday. Public Prosecutor Nagappa told the court that Santosh appears to be the mastermind and should not be released on bail, said police sources.

Meanwhile, investigators are searching for a CD that the suspects mentioned, added police sources.

All the arrested persons Prashanth, Kishore, Selvam, Aiyappa, Aravind and Rajendra Urs, a suspect who secured bail recently, claimed they were working on the instructions of Santosh, the sources said.

The sources said Santosh assured help to remove Rajendra Urs name from the rowdy-sheeter list if the latter kidnaps Vinay Bidre and get the alleged CD.

The police have been searching for Santosh. On July 15 midnight, a team visited Yeddyurappa’s house looking for Santosh, but could not find him.
