Bengaluru: JDS party supremo HD Devegowda’s decision to allocate the Chamaraja assembly constituency seat to a close relative, former KSOU and Mysore University VC Prof. KS Rangappa has led to rebellion in the district. Many district leaders feel that Rangappa has been inducted into party against the wishes of the local leaders.
Prof. KS Rangappa is in news over allegations-counter allegations with regard to the various scandals in Mysore University and KSOU when he was the Vice Chancellor of both the universities.
“He doesn’t have any touch with local party cadres of the constituency. When all the BJP and the Congress are working with field level activists, the party is imposing candidates on us,” said a party leader who wished to be anonymous.
Sticky wicket
Many party leaders observed that even though Mysuru is the strong JDS belt, few recent decisions taken by the party has put the party in a sticky wicket. “At Hunasuru, it was first announced that GT Devegowda’s son will contest. Later the name of Prajwal Revanna was floated. But now H Vishwanath has been shortlisted as a candidate. Now Chamaraja constituency unit also facing the similar situation,’ he said.
