Bengaluru: The election fever is catching up in Karnataka already and with the assembly polls due to be held during first half of 2018, the JD(S) has started sharpening its knives. With JD(S) state Chief H D Kumaraswamy coming up with innovative moves to woo the voters, the latest one is a well thought after move.

For the first time ever, the JD(S) has created post of Party Campaign Committee Chief and made former Congressman H Vishwanath as its head. H Vishwanath had joined the JD(S) after severing all his ties with the Congress recently, specially expressing displeasure over style of functioning of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

As per political pundits, appointment of H Vishwanath, a Kuruba strongman will be of great advantage to the JD(S). Sources in the JDS say that this move is aimed at creating good will for the JD(S) among the Kuruba community members, who are in large number across the state and influencing the result of around 80 constituencies.

According to the decision taken by the party, H Vishwanath will also work as the head of the party manifesto committee and coordinator of the social media team. “He has been given the charge of Idea Log, a dedicated cell started to reach out young tech savvy voters,” JDS sources informed.

H Vishwanath is likely to contest from Hunasur constituency in the 2018 state assembly election.

Once a close associate of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, now H Vishwanath is being fielded as a Kuruba leader to counter the CM himself, who too hails from the Kuruba Gowda community.
