Bengaluru: Home Minister G. Parameshwara on Thursday interacted with the students of Christ Junior College on garbage menace, safety of women in the city and various other issues.
Students who had come to the University on an exchange programme from Lerums Gymnasium, Sweden and Catholic Junior College Singapore were also part of the interaction.

During the interaction with a student from Singapore, Home minister took up the issue of intolerance in the country and said that it is affecting the secular fabric of the country. “Intolerance is growing because of a section of fundamentalists’ forces. There is a need to ensure that no barriers are created on the lines of caste and religion for the inclusive growth.” he said.

When a student asked about slums in the city, Home Minister said that the State government did not allow slums to develop as many migrants had set up houses illegally and could hamper development.

Home Minister G. Parameshwara said that the State government is examining if people associated with Karnataka had any connection with or were related to any activities of the Islamic State (IS).

He said that the home department has some confidential information and is looking into the issue. The police are trying to ensure that youngsters do not register in any terrorist organisation.
