Bengaluru: The Income tax department sleuths raided the premises of businessmen and builders at fourteen different locations in the city on August 11.
Around 40 I-T officials were involved in today’s raids at 14 different locations simultaneously, it is gathered.
Some businessmen and builders under the income tax radar had failed to file the returns within the due date. The I-T department had hinted at raids against such tax evaders after August 15.
However, the sudden decision by the I-T sleuths to unearth unaccounted wealth has sent shock waves in the business community. The raids were conducted without giving any prior intimation using personnel from Central reserve Police Force (CRPF) as security cover.
Details regarding the seizure of valuables and documents are not known.
It may be recalled that the raids of similar nature were conducted on the residence and properties of State Power Minister D K Shivakumar and his relatives at 60 different locations in the state starting August 2 which had lasted for over 72 hours.
