Bengaluru: The Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) have decided to continue their alliance in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) council for the mayoral elections to be held on September 28, with a truce reached between the two parties. With this, Congress will have no hassles to select its candidate for the Mayor’s post.

Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy told presspersons that the four posts of standing committee chief would be given to the JD(S). First round of talks had been held with JD(S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda and its State president H.D. Kumaraswamy.

There was no dispute with regard to the candidates for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, he said.

The Congress councillor for the Mayor’s post would be decided by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
