Bengaluru: If at all the cops had not laid their hands on him, Guruji would have had the question papers of the ongoing Common Entrance Test (CET) leaked.
Kingpin of the PU paper leak Shivakumaraiah, aka Guruji, and his associates’ plans met failure after the PU leak came to light and hence the CET question paper leak plans were foiled.
His quest for bigger money made him have tie ups with educational institutions and coaching institutions. But, the ambitious institutions wanted not just good results in PU but wanted to ‘excel’ even in the CET. So the kingpin had to formulate a packaged plan for these institutions bringing together PU and CET question papers as one bouquet of offer for institutions.
Shivakumaraiah, who was on the run for a month, had been caught on Tuesday on Hosur Road. After medical examination, the CID sleuths began quizzing him on the money trails, including one of Rs. 1 lakh by his associate Kiran alias Kumaraswamy. This, they suspect, was part of the investment for leaking the CET papers.
His contacts in the PU Board may have helped him to get in touch with the CET cell as well, suspect the police. However, Guruji has been on denial mode.
In one specific year, there was a Rs 30 lakh transaction from his account. When asked about it, Shivakumaraiah said the money belonged to his deceased realtor father, reports the New Indian Express.
An 18-year-old girl, who benefited from the leak led cops to Shivakumaraiah, police sources said.
