Bengaluru: Former IAS officer Dr C Somashekhar on Thursday joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa, Union Ministers D V Sadananda Gowda, Ananth Kumar, Leader of Opposition Jagadish Shettar and BJP general secretary and MP Shobha Karandlaje at BJP office in Bengaluru.Speaking on the occasion, BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said Dr Somashekhar has earned name and fame in literary world and worked efficiently as an IAS officer. “BJP is strengthened with Somashekar joining the party. I advise Somashekhar to play active role in BJP programmes and prepare party activists to bring BJP to power in the next Assembly elections,” Yeddyurappa said.
Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar said Somashekhar was supposed to join BJP long ago. “I am happy to see Somashekhar in BJP. It will strengthen BJP in the state,” Ananth Kumar said.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Somashekhar said that he joined BJP because of its principles. “I will work hard to strengthen BJP in Karnataka. I will try my best to bring BJP back to power. I will tour the state to instill confidence among BJP activists,” Somashekhar said.
