Bengaluru: A major fire broke out at Bilva Hospital near Vyalikaval in Bengaluru on Saturday morning. No casualties were reported and a preliminary investigation revealed an electrical short circuit to have caused the fire.
The fire broke out in the laboratory located in the first floor of three storey building and within 20 minutes the fire came under control. “We received fire call at 5.30 am. Six fire tenders were rushed to the spot from High Grounds Fire Station and the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes,’’ said Ramesh, Director, Fire and Emergency Services Department.
Bharath, a hospital staff said that six patients who were in the second floor were brought out as a precautionary measure, soon after the fire broke.
According to sources, the hospital had no emergency exit in case of fire accident. The sources said the management of the hospital gave no importance to safety measures.
