Bengaluru: The son of the fifth Vice-President of India finds himself in trouble after he verbally abused and threatened Whitefield residents at gunpoint on Wednesday night.

An FIR was lodged by the police against BD Jatti’s son Danappa Basappa Jatti and and his wife Lakshmi D Jatti on the basis of a complaint filed by 14 residents of Dwarakamayi Layout in Whitefield.

According to reports, residents had approached Danappa, developer of the Jatti Dwarakamayi layout as they were facing several issues regarding the facilities especially the steep hike in the maintenance and additional charges to use basic facilities at the layout. In retaliation, Danappa is said to have cut off the water supply.

On being questioned, he brazenly pointed a gun at the residents warning them they won’t be able to do a thing to him since he hails from an important family.

The residents alleged that in June this year, Danappa put up a notice for all residents saying that they have to pay Rs 100 for an hour for using the playground and Rs 100 per hour for using the walking track and also asked each household to pay Rs 10,540 as maintenance. Further they mentioned that the STP and the garbage disposal system had been shut off in order to deliberately inconvenience them and poses a health hazard.
