Bengaluru: The High Court of Karnataka on Thursday granted bail to the former corporator V. Nagaraj and his two sons, Gandhi N. and Shastry N., in connection with some of the criminal cases registered against them after the police seized Rs 14.98 crore in demonetised currency from their house here.
Justice Rathnakala passed the order while allowing the petitions filed by the trio. She directed the accused to appear before the investigating officer every week, to cooperate in the investigation and furnish bonds for Rs. 2 lakh along with two sureties. Several cases have been registered against them in different police stations across the city.
It may be recalled, Nagaraj and his two sons were nabbed by Bengaluru police near Arcot in Tamil Nadu in May. They, who managed to evade arrest for almost a month, were nabbed in a police action that looked liked as it was taken straight out of a movie.
