Bengaluru: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials questioned former Home Minister for State, K J George in connection with the suicide case of DySP Ganpathi on Friday, August 26.
According to sources, CID DySP Shridhar questioned George at the CID office on Palace road in Bengaluru. George has stated that he never made any personal calls to Ganapthi nor has harassed the deceased officer. The former minister is also said to have informed the CID team that he must have met Ganapthi two or three times as a minister, but he doesn’t remember the date or time.
George is the first person to be questioned by the CID after the case was transferred to it on August 5. He was questioned from 3pm in the afternoon for about three hours.
The minister had to resign from his post as the Bengaluru Development minister on July 18 after there were wide spread protests by the opposition calling for his resignation.
DySP M K Ganapthi, in an interview to a news channel hours before his death blamed the trio, minister KJ George, Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence A.M. Prasad and Lokayukta (Ombudsman) inspector general of police Pronab Mohanty foreseeing danger to his life.
A Madikeri court ordered an FIR against George and the two IPS officers after Ganapathy’s son Nehal filed a private complaint in the court.
