Bengaluru: In a shocking road accident, a drunk woman driver crushed down a pedestrian to death before hitting two cars and a bike on Wednesday late night, August 24.
The deceased is identified as Subramani (55), a native of Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The accused Bhavatharini N (26), a resident of Rajajinagar has been detained and taken into judicial custody.
The incident took place near Lalbagh at around 12.30 am. According to police, Bhavatharini was under heavy alcoholic influence when the incident happened. However, blood sample has been to lab for examination. Preliminary reports said that, Bhavatharini is a news reporter working with a magazine dedicated to students. She was driving back home after attending a party at residency road. Meanwhile, she lost control over her car and ran over pedestrian, later hit two parked cars, a moving bike and later crashed into the compound gate of a house.
Soon, passerby gathered on spot and dragged her out from car and thrashed before handing over to police, sources said.
Cases including negligent driving, Drunk and driving and others are slapped on her and investigation is on, police said.
