Bengaluru: A drive launched to link Aadhar to ration cards has received a good response in the state. According to the officers in the state Food and Civil supplies department, in six districts of the state all ration card holders have linked their Aadhar number to the ration card.
According to the officers, the state government started this process of linking to eradicate the problem of bogus ration cards. In six districts i.e. Chamarajanagar, Bidar, Chikkaballapura, Davanagere, Kolar and Mandya all the ration cards have been successfully linked to the Aadhar numbers of the beneficiaries. “In other districts, we have completed 90 to 99% linking process,’ said an officer.
Presently, around 1.38 crore families have Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards in the state while 1.08 crore families have Above Poverty Line (APL) cards. Aadhar has been linked to ration cards in the majority of the states across the country to bring transparency in the PDS system, stated the officer.
