Bengaluru: A 30-year-old man was bludgeoned to death by his friends in Upparpet late on Monday. The police attributed an argument over the theft of Rs 400 as the reason for the murder.
The police have identified the victim as Lokesh Narasimhappa, a native of Chitradurga, worked as a cook for a catering outlet in Upparpet.
According to police, Narasimhappa and two colleagues, Kumar and Prakash, went to a dilapidated building close to their hotel to consume alcohol on Monday night. Kumar found that Rs. 400 was missing from his shirt pocket and accused Narasimhappa of theft. The three were drunk, and soon an argument erupted, said the police. In a fit of rage, Kumar bludgeoned him using a hollow cement block. His body was found in the morning by the building owner who alerted the police.
The Upparpet police have registered a case and efforts are on to track down the duo who are on the run.
