Bengaluru: Mayor G Padmavathi on Tuesday directed the contractors to complete on-going developmental works within three months to avoid themselves being blacklisted by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
Inspecting the developmental works at four wards in Rajajinagar Assembly segment here, Mayor Padmavathi said that all ongoing developmental works must be completed within three months as per the Chief Minister’s directive. “The Chief Minister has clearly told the BBMP authorities to ensure that all ongoing developmental works within three months. The BMBP has taken up developmental works at an estimated cost of Rs 4.50 crore but the residents were put to inconvenience due to the delay in completing this works,’’ Mayor Padmavathi said.
The mayor, who visited Prakash Nagar, Manjunath Nagar, Srirampuram and Shivanagar wards as per the directive Minister for Bengaluru Development K J George, has expressed displeasure with the slow progress of the developmental works.
According to her, some of these developmental works, that were taken up more than a year ago, are yet to be completed. “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Bengaluru Development Minister K J George have directed us to complete all pending works within three months. I have visited not only Rajajinagar Assembly segment but also other Assembly constituencies. Many works are yet to be completed. BBMP engineers will be responsible if these works are not completed within three months,’’ she said.
She said some of the developmental works are completed by 50 to 60 per cent. “I want the BBMP engineers to pressurize the contractors to complete all pending works within three months,’’ she said.
