Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah instructed the State’s top bureaucrats to redress the public’s grievances in a meeting held on Monday, June 27.
The meeting had all State Government Department Secretaries, Commissioners, Regional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Chief Executive Officers at Vidhana Soudha.
CEO’s of zilla panchayaths had to face the wrath of the Chief Minister in particular when they tried to give false information on laying roads. Siddaramaiah caught the CEOs on wrong foot when they tried to mislead him with irrelevant information.
“I am basically a lawyer. Do not try to fool me around. I can make out your lies.” said Siddaramaiah.
The Chief Minister regretted the fact that barely Rs 28 crore had been spent out of Rs 141 crore sanctioned by the State government to the Urban Development department. He said that the district administration would be held responsible if the issues faced by public are not resolved quickly.
The meeting saw Siddaramaiah taking on the issue of non-redressal of complaints. The CM said that though his office had forwarded as many as 160 complaints to various district administrations, only 19 complaints had been looked into. He directed the officials to get their act together, as the negligence of the administration is costing the government dearly.
The Chief Minister will continue the meeting on Tuesday as well, with the Deputy Commissioners and Zilla Panchayat CEOs today. Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimappa and other top officials are expected to attend the meeting.
