Bengaluru: The Chief Minister reprimanded a few officers for irresponsibility and also the ministers for defending them, when he continued his meeting with State bureaucrats and ministers on Tuesday, June 28.
Social Welfare Minister Anjaneya and Water Resources Minister M B Patil bore the brunt of an aggressive CM, after they tried to intervene when Siddaramaiah questioned the officials of their respective departments.

It is said that the Chief Minister again advised the bureaucrats and officials to go to into the field to check ground realities instead of sitting in their respective air-conditioned chambers.

Siddaramaiah did a review of the Social Welfare department. He pulled up the social welfare officer of Kalaburagi and snapped at minister Anjaneya when he tried to speak up for her. Minister Patil found himself cut short when he intervened to say Vijayapura district did not have any problem with Siddaramaiah telling him he had better ground information than the minister himself.

The CM further warned the ministers against defending anyone who failed to take the government’s programmes to the poor. He also directed the Deputy Commissioners to start distributing forest rights to people living inside them.

“We have brought in a legislation and it is your duty to implement it. Don’t give technical reasons to deny the people their rights. There are a lot of pending applications which must be reviewed,” he said.

The CM asked the officials to be compassionate and consider the plight of the poor.
