Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered legal action against officials issuing false caste certificates in the name of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Chairing the state level monitoring committee meeting at Vidhana Soudha on April 25, CM Siddaramaiah said, 482 cases were pending where false certificates were issued. The official response in such cases is inadequate, where action should have been taken after investigating the complaint.
He also suggested that cases, where jobs have been secured in the name of the deceased should end.
Initiating action against those who applied and took false certificates will not end the menace. Instead stringent action has to be taken against officials who issued false caste certificates without verification, CM said.
Siddaramaiah said there was no increase in the number of caste abuse cases. He instructed Law Minister TB Jayachandra and Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya, who were present at the meeting to discuss with the High Court Registrar General about setting up of special courts to dispose such cases.
Chief minister directed the police department, district in-charge ministers and assistant commissioners to take stringent measures in such complaints hence forth.
