CM inaugurates Bengaluru North University

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday inaugurated Bengaluru North University with its headquarters in Kolar.

Siddaramaiah also launched developments works taken up at a cost of Rs. 584 crore at a function organized to mark the inauguration of new Deputy Commissioner’s office complex.

“More students can access higher education from setting up of the new university. My government has accorded priority to impart education, including higher education, as it will help in developing human resource,” Siddaramaiah said.

Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayaraddi and Health and Family Welfare Minister K.R. Ramesh Kumar also spoke.

Bengaluru North University will have 210 colleges under 19 Assembly constituencies of Kolar, Chickballapur, and Bengaluru Rural and Urban districts.

Special Officer of Bengaluru North University T.D. Kemparaju has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor. The new university will function from the Karnataka State Open University building located at Tamaka on the outskirts of Kolar for academic year 2017–18.

The new campus will come up at Amaravathi village in H. Cross of Chickballapur district.
