City BJP unit smells scam in Indira Canteen works, files complaint

Bengaluru : Bangalore city spokesman of the BJP and former corporator in BBMP NR Ramesh has registered a criminal case against four people including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Minister KJ George alleging irregularities to the tune of Rs 65 crore in the Indira Canteen construction works.

Speaking at a news conference, N R Ramesh disclosed that he has filed a complaint in Lokayukta court and city ACMM court against CM Siddaramaiah ,Urban Development Minister K J George, Additional Chief secretary in Urban Development department Mahendra Jain and Special Commissioner of BBMP, Manoj Rajan for committing irregularities in allotment of contract, execution of works and giving tax benefits for the proposed Indira Canteens.

Towards construction of Kitchens for the Indira Canteen Rs 39 lakhs have been misappropriated in each of the 198 wards, alleged N R Ramesh and said,a sum of Rs 65 Cr has been looted while earmarking area towards expansion of built up area for 27 kitchens in all the 198 wards.

The contract for construction works has been allotted to K F E Infrastructure, a company based in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu (TN) by flouting all tender norms. Unilateral decision has been taken in awarding the contract worth Rs 100 crore where pre-cast technology has been employed for the benefit for four named in the complaint,N R Ramesh alleged.

Bangalore firms are capable of executing quality pre–cast fabrication works at a cost less than Rs 1 lakh but those factors have been totally ignored in order to pocket money from the TN based company. The state government has also given 4G tax exemption to assist the company and this alone amounts to Rs 12 crore and the entire deal appears fraudulent, N R Ramesh stated.

To ensure early completion of Indira Canteen project, land belonging to playgrounds, parks, temples and even cemetery has been taken over flouting existing norms, N R Ramesh alleged.
