Bengaluru: Former councilor V Nagaraj alias Pal Naga alias Bomb Naga is trying every trick to escape police torture but Bengaluru police seem clueless on his whereabouts. Nagaraj has tried his best to get an anticipatory bail to avoid police arrest and subsequent ‘treatment’ by the police either at an unknown destination or a selected police station.

Police register case against former councilor Nagaraj in Bengaluru-1Ironically, the Bengaluru police who boast as the efficient and tech-savvy police force in the country are not able either to contact him over the phone or take him into custody while Naga’s advocate Sriram Reddy is in touch with him on a daily basis.

Now, Naga has made one more attempt to outsmart Bengaluru police. He filed a writ petition in Karnataka High Court expressing his desire to surrender to police in the presence of his advocates. He knows very well that police would not accept any of his terms and conditions but his objective is to hog the limelight and show the police in a poor light.

When contacted, Hemanth Nimbalkar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) said none of the conditions of Nagaraj would be accepted by the police. “High Court has cancelled Nagaraj’s petition. How can police allow him to surrender on his terms and conditions? Isn’t it absurd?” Nimbalkar asked.

On April 22, Nagaraj released a video alleging that a few policemen, including four IPS officers, were involved in demonetised currency rackets operating in the city. Nagaraj also alleged that he was very much present in his stronghold Srirampura and accused the cops of plotting to eliminate him in a fake encounter. Nagaraj can be heard in the video saying that he is in the city and is not absconding as projected by the police. He has further stated that Rs 10 crores deal has been made to encounter him and on April 14th, following which the police team came to his house to kill him.

He claimed that he was sitting in a neighbour’s house and was watching the entire operation on April 14. “The police who came to my home wanted to kill me in an encounter. This type of encounters took place during Ramakrishna Hegde regime. They wanted to kill me before Assembly elections scheduled for May 2018,’’ Nagaraj claimed in the video.

He even referred Umesh, the realtor who filed a complaint against Nagaraj, at the Hennur police on charges of extortion and said that Umesh along with three others had approached him to help them get the demonetised currencies changed to new notes. “I have never been to Hennur. I am resident of Srirampura. If the police want to register a case, let them register the case at Srirampura Police Station. Hennur police have registered a false case against me,’’ Nagaraj said.

Police had recovered some documents of a farm house at Dabbaspet from his residence along with Rs 14.8 crore of demonetised currency. He has further added that the farm house at Dabbaspet legally belongs to him. He had sold a 60-acre plot at Gowribidanur and purchased the plot by paying Rs 6 crore.
