Bengaluru: A sense of uneasiness and discomfort is being felt by several leaders of the BJP. If sources are to be believed then the national leadership has sternly told several leaders of the BJP to contest the upcoming assembly polls from constituencies that are new to them. If this is true then several leaders who have contested and won from a particular constituency over last several years will have to shift out of their comfort zone.
It is already known that BJP National President Amit Shah has told State President BS Yeddyurappa to bid goodbye to his home constituency Shikaripura and march towards North Karnataka so that the Lingayat strongman could woo as much Lingayat voters as possible in North Karnataka.
However, it is now said that even senior leaders like Jagadish Shettar, K S Eshwarappa, R Ashok, C T Ravi, Basavaraj Bommai, Murugesh Neerani and others too may have to shift to new constituencies. These strong leaders may be fielded in constituencies where BJP’s hold is weak so as to strength party’s presence.
One may have to wait and watch if this idea would translate into victory for the BJP in the state.
