Udupi: The Bharatiya Janata Party as per the state committee’s decision will stage a protest against the “state government’s failure” on February 20, said Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, BJP District Committee President.

Speaking with media persons at a press meet at BJP party office on Saturday, February 18, he said that in Udupi district a protest would be staged at the clock tower near service bus stand at 3 pm. “The Congress government in the state has failed in implementing all development activities. The people of state were expecting good governance when Siddaramaiah government came to power. However, during the four years rule not a single promise has been fulfilled’, Hegde opined.

“The chief minister has completely lost his hand with cabinet members. The government is not in the position to remove Anjeneya, a cabinet member though he is facing corruption charges. There is information that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had paid Rs 1000 Crore to Congress High Command. The I-T department conducted a raid on the house of Small Scale Industries Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, but Siddaramaiah did not take any action nor was he dropped from cabinet. The I-T department also raided KPCC Women’s Wing President Laxmi Hebbalkar’s house and seized Rs. 162.06 Crore including Rs 41 Lakh worth new Rs 2000 currency notes. But again, Siddaramaiah did not take any action. But it is sad that Siddaramaiah is trying to twist the issue by targeting BJP leaders,” he lamented.

Mattar Rathnakar Hegde stated that Siddaramaiah government was the most corrupt one even compared to the previous UPA government at the Centre. “The CD of conversation between Yeddyurappa and Ananth Kumar shows that the two leaders are engaged in a private conversation at a BJP function. The tape is completely doctored. The Congress is misleading the people with the CD,” he said.

“The law and order situation in the state is completely out of control. The ruling Congress party when it came to power had made 165 promises but none is fulfilled. We have lost faith in the Congress government”, Hegde scorned.

Speaking on the toll collection issue, Mattar Rathnakar said that the party was against the collecting of toll fare when NH 66 construction work was yet to be completed. “There is no need to collect toll from Hejamady and Sasthan toll plazas. Shobha Karandlaje has met Union Minister of Highways Nithin Gadkari against the toll fare collection but District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj did not raise the toll issue in the Assembly sessions. The district administration comes under him. He can solve the problem and should delay the collection of toll fare. The toll collecting companies are different in Surathkal and Hejamady,” he said.

During the press meet former MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Kulaidy Suresh Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, Katapady Shanker Poojary, Shymala Kundar, Suprasad Shetty, Prabhakar Poojary and Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty were present.
