Health Minister halts Bill
Minister for Health and Family Welfare K R Ramesh Kumar decided against moving a Bill for consideration just following concerns expressed by a lone member.
BJP member Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri expressed concern about the Institute of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (Amendment) Bill, stating that granting university status to the institute may result in government interference and unwanted lobbying for the Vice-Chancellor’s post. Though members of the Opposition wanted the Minister to go ahead with the Bill, the minister made it clear that he would wait till the next session to address the concerns expressed by the member.
