Bengaluru: An Income tax officer’s 19-year-old son who was kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 50 lakhs was found dead in a lake in Bengaluru today, days after his video emerged asking his parents to pay the ransom amount to the kidnappers.

The boy, Sharath had gone missing on September 12, when he had gone riding his new motorcycle wanting to show it off to his friends. Two days after his disappearance, Sharath’s parents received a video on WhatsApp in which the boy is seen pleading his parents to pay money to the kidnappers. In another video Sharath is telling his parents that the kidnappers may be following his sister too. However, he reportedly appeared to be calm in the videos.

The six men arrested for the crime allegedly led the police to the body which was found this morning.

Reportedly, the abductors had strangulated Sharath to death and dumped his body in a tank on the same night he was kidnapped.
