Bangalore: Mallikarjun Swamy, 52, a school principal of a residential school in Anekal taluk, was arrested last month for sexually harassing hostel inmates, by asking them for their pillows, after TV channels telecast footage of him and his associates consuming alcohol on the hostel premises. He was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
However, new facts have come to light after the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) recently met students.
Apparently the principal, now known as the pillow principal, for asking the inmates for their pillows to help him dream, didn’t stop at drinking on campus or asking girls for their pillows. He allegedly sexually assaulted at least 30 girls in the hostel.
These horrific tales were narrated by the students to the CWC. The CWC alleged, that they told the CWC, that the principal removed the latches of doors to rooms in which older girls were staying, and allegedly took their photographs when they were bathing.
CWC members said they found the girls in a state of shock, and managed to get them to open up after a lot of convincing. The CWC alleged that a 15-year-old girl, was the constant target of the principal’s assaults. Her statement was recorded in front of a magistrate .
Though parents had lodged several complaints with police earlier, there was no response. Its only when the TV channels aired footage of the Principal consuming alcohol with his buddies on the premises, that the police swung into action.
It is learnt that the police will add the girls’ statements to the CWC to the case.
