Bengaluru: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has served a notice on Arun Shyam, the advocate for Raghaveshwara Bharathi of the Ramachandrapura Mutt, to appear for an inquiry.

The seer has been accused of raping a Ramakatha singer and devotee of the Mutt. However, Shyam has written back expressing his inability to appear before the CID sleuths for the inquiry.

“Serving of a notice on me by the CID is against the set norms. Hence, I sent across a letter through registered post in this regard on Thursday,” the lawyer told Deccan?Herald.

He said that it was another effort to prevent him from fighting the case in the court of law.

A?criminal case has been registered against the seer in the Banashankari police station in Bengaluru.
