Police seizes Rs 74,000 counterfeit notes; duo nabbed

Bangalore: Two persons were arrested by the Electronic City Police on charges of trying to circulate fake notes at Bettadasanapura here on Saturday July 26.

The arrested have been identified 26-year-old Akbar Hussain, a resident of Varthur and 23-year-old Nazir Rehaman, a resident of Sarjapur.

The duo basically are said to be natives of Assam and settled in City around ten years ago.

Acting upon credible information the Electronic City Police nabbed the duo.

As per the police officials the counterfeit may have come from across the border as the duo used to frequent Assam, as well as ask other people involved in the crime to circulate these notes.

They also recovered 36 counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000 denomination and 76 counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination, all totaling Rs 74,000.
