Officials raid shops selling banned plastic bags

Mysore :A team of officials led by Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha conducted raids at various shops in Mannars markets and surrounding areas against the sale of plastic covers and bags below 40 microns.

The team of officials arrived at the market area at around 9 am conducted raids at 10 shops and seized around 500 kg of plastic covers and bags till 12 noon. Officials also registered cases against the shops selling plastic less than 40 microns and the raids are expected to continue till evening.

The officials said that the seized plastic covers and bags would be sent to Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) in Hebbal Industrial Area.

MCC Health Officer Dr. Nagaraj, Public Relation Office M.V. Sudha, Environmental Engineers Girijamma, Mythri, Shafinaaz, Tejaswini and others were present during the raid.
