Bengaluru: The city police have opened two FIR registration centres on an experimental basis here in the state capital. Chief minister Siddaramaiah has inaugurated the FIR centre at a Mantri Mall on Friday and praised the police for embracing the modern technology with the open arms.
In this Remote FIR Registration Centre, one can give a call to register their complaint, also it can be registered through a video conference. It is a plush ATM center, with a round-the-clock service.
Once the complainant contacts the investigative officer via video conference, the concerned police officer at the control room will register the case and a copy of FIR will be delivered on the spot.
Bengaluru police commissioner MN Reddi has given a big push to make use of modern technology as well as social media, in order to make police force more accessible and accountable to the people.
Reddi is an active twitter user, besides anyone can tweet him a complaint where he sometimes reply, and also passes vital instructions to the concerned police officers through tweets only, in order make it a transparent communication process.
While in the coming days, the city police want to increase the number of remote FIR Registration centres across the state capital. These centres aim to reduce bribe and harassment cases that people have to face on day-to-day basis.
