Mr Modi sowing seeds of discontent: CM Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Coming down heavily on the Narendra Modi led BJP government at the Centre, Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah on Wednesday quipped that Mr Modi has too little to offer to the nation except sowing the seeds of division among communities.

Speaking at the commemoration of the 125th birth anniversary of late prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru at the KPCC office here, Mr Siddaramaiah observed that  Pandit Nehru’s policies were constructive and  were now bearing the fruits and added that communalism was detrimental to the country’s progress and will spoil the secular fabric.

“We need not learn anything from them (BJP) on who divides society on communal lines. We need to follow the path shown by Nehru who heralded a new era of inclusive development for all sections of people after independence,” he said while heaping praise on the country’s first PM.

Mr Siddaramaiah also alleged that the BJP was trying to take credit for  all the good work done by Nehru who laid a solid foundation for the country to prosper and the result was much evident now as India had emerged as a leading nation on par with the US and China.

“Nehru was the first leader who told the people of the nation that he was their servant and will serve for their betterment till his last breath.

Mr Modi is only trying to imitate him, but without any conviction,” he ridiculed throwing the gauntlet at the BJP leaders, “I challenge them to deny the fact that Congress leaders like Nehru and Indira Gandhi’s contribution to the nation is immense.

They ushered in the green revolution and industrial growth while a new era of communication was launched by Rajiv Gandhi,” he said.
