Bengaluru: A man was arrested on Sunday April 26, by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths for owning 118 kilograms of unaccounted silver articles worth Rs. 45 lakh.
The accused has been identified as 48-year-old Dilip Singh. The police have seized the silver articles.
According to the CCB sleuths Singh received the undocumented goods from an associate, R.P. Gupta from New Delhi. Singh would conceal the silver articles in a courier packages and receive them at the airport. This was done to avoid payment of taxes, they said.
Based on a tip-off, a team of CCB officials nabbed Singh when he was loading the goods in a vehicle at the BIAL Airport.
Dilip Singh has been taken into custody for further questioning to unearth an inter-state racket which has been running for the past few months, a senior police officer said.
